‘Kar Har Maidan Fateh’ seems impossible to a common man, but not to Mr. Ratnesh Pandey.
Despite of having a metal rod in his left leg Ratnesh is a Guinness World Record holder, professional mountaineer, motorbike stunt rider, motivational TedX speaker, a patriot, founder of two NGOs, and keeps on motivating us from his story and never give up attitude.
A native from Satna, Ratnesh completed his MBA from Indore, Madhya Pradesh. And worked as a manager for around 8 years at different MNC’s in the country. While being full-time at the job, he was a motorbike stunt rider for several years. The journey from a Manager to Mountaineer wasn’t easy, but he had a divine force with him.
Ratnesh being a Shiv Bhakt says that he got the belief in himself of climbing Mt. Everest in Ujjain’s Mahakaleshwar Jyotirlinga. Yajurveda says ‘तन्मे मनः शिवसंकल्पमस्तु', that Shiv is master of auspicious thoughts, and a resolution taken by Shiva’s name always succeeds.
Talking about success, Ratnesh Pandey holds a Guinness World Record for being the first man to sing a country’s national anthem on Mt. Everest in 2016. Rather than mountaineering, Ratnesh holds 3 other world records in motorbike stunt riding. He was rewarded the title of ‘Smart Rider of Smart City’ in 2015 for creating another World Record of riding a bike in Christ Position for 32.3 Km in less than an hour. But the road to Everest wasn’t easy in any terms, every aspect had to be considered. He left his job in the year 2014, to pursue mountaineering full-time. Little did he knew that one can’t climb Mt. Everest just like that, it requires months of professional training. Ratnesh joined Atal Bihari Institute of Mountaineering Institute in 2014 and completed its advanced level course. But the cost of the Mt. Everest expedition was 25 Lakhs way more than his capability, so before approaching any sponsors, Ratnesh proved that he belonged at the top of the world.
Pandey scaled Mt. Friendship, Mt. Deo Tibba and Mt. Jagatsukh each above 16000 ft. in Manali before he kept his proposal of Mt. Everest expedition in front of the Madhya Pradesh government. Till date, there was no such professional mountaineering program or grant by the Madhya Pradesh government.
Ratnesh expresses his gratitude towards the Chief Secretary of Madhya Pradesh, Shri. Iqbal Singh Bains saying that without his support this expedition won’t have been a success. On the recommendation of Mr. Bains, he got big sponsors like the Department of Sports, Jio among others.
But did he succeed in his first attempt? Unfortunately, no! The Earthquake in Nepal, which had the whole world in despair, Ratnesh and his team were stuck at an altitude of 21000 at Mt. Everest. Remembering those 3 days when he was stuck with just 2 packets of Noodle on such a height, Ratnesh says that ‘Kaal Bhi kya bigade uska jo Bhakt ho Mahakaal ka.’ Fortunately, he was heli- rescued with some others, but till then 21 of his other team members had succumbed to the disastrous calamity.
Even after facing such extreme conditions, the fear of death didn’t stop Ratnesh from fulling his dream, it made him stronger. This he pushed himself to the very extent, his training included daily 10 km, 40-50 km of Cycling, Ice training in Beas Kund Glacier, Cycling from Shimla to Manali (650 km). He was also trained by Yog gurus for his breathing skills.
This all was a calculated risk for his world record. With financial help from his friends Mr. Vishwa Vijay Singh Yadav and Mr. Shaliesh Agarwal, Ratnesh become a pride of India on 21st May 2016 by singing Jana Gana Mana on the top of the world’s highest peak Mt. Everest. Surviving the weather of Everest isn’t easy, yet he sang India’s national anthem in minus 40 degrees.
This portrays his love for Maa Bharti. Talking of India, Ratnesh is a patriot and has immense love and respect for Armed Forces. Till date, he has met families of more than 1000 martyred soldiers. Inspired by Param Veer Chakra Rifleman Sanjay Kumar & Dr. S L Thaosen (IPS), Ratnesh says he’ll keep giving it back to the country. After bringing glory to the nation by his world record, people questioned him if he going to ever-rest after scaling Everest. But he had other plans, in 2017 he represented India in Ice- Climbing world championship. His student Megha Parmar, became the first woman from Madhya Pradesh to climb Mount Everest. Later climbed Iran’s highest mountain Davamand and paid tribute to India’s intelligenceagency RAW.
Indian scriptures have always respected the third gender, Ardhnareshwar form of Shiva represents the third gender. But as time swayed, the transgender community is often mistreated everywhere. As the step towards normalizing the third gender, Ratnesh took the world’s first transgender expedition along with Acharya Mahamandeleshwar Kinnar Akhada Laxmi Narayan Tripathi. On 2nd October 2019, Ratnesh along with 25 kinnars scaled Mt. Friendship. After all this, Ratnesh now founded NGOs Aavahan, Challengers Hub, and Ratnesh Pandey foundation where he works towards spreading mental health awareness.
Apart from all this, Ratnesh is also deeply involved in social causes. He founded two NGOs Aavaahan and Ratnesh Pandey foundation where he works towards spreading mental health awareness & patriotic campaigns. His adventure travel company, Challengers Hub is dealing in adventure sports & with all such uniqueness in work, its certified as a Start-up company by the Government of India. Success is not impossible without getting failed. Ratnesh teaches us to challenge our inner self to reach a new height. He taught us to be unstoppable, he could have stayed home after the leg accident. But he didn’t give up. Life is all about not giving up and being stubborn about your goals.
